It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the 1^st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of our district, ICAN Lekki and District Society. The idea of having a district in Lekki Peninsula area of Lagos State was muted some time in 2020 by a few members of our institute who reside in this axis.

We approached Ikeja & District Society who gladly sponsored the application for the new district. After series of meetings, the Council of our great Institute finally approved the creation of the 70th district in April, 2022 and it was inaugurated on May 5, 2022 to the glory of God.
We started with less than 100 financial members of both the Institute and the district. Today, we are about 250 members and we are still counting.

Our achievements:

In the last twelve months, we have put our footsteps in the sand of time. Listed below are some of them:

*We have consistently held our monthly meetings with technical sessions during each meeting since inauguration.

* We participated in the celebration of World Accountants awareness program by going on a roadshow from Jakande busstop to Chevron junction.
* During the 17th Western Zonal District Conference, our representative in the Catch Them Young Program tagged “FAME Competition” was one of the the last five out of the 26 Districts from Western Zone that participated;

* We sent five Exco members on leadership training at Ibadan organized by ICAN Western Zonal District.

* Over Thirty of our members changed status from Associate to Fellow of the Institute, we congratulate them and wish them well.
* we paid courtesy visit to two Organizations in our area of jurisdiction including Chevron Nigeria Ltd.
* we have set up our district portal for our members use sponsored by Alhaji Tajudeen Kareem FCA, Deputy General Manager, Finance, Chevron NIgeria Ltd. This is still being launched today.

Our appreciation is to the Most High who has brought us this far and for His faithfulness.

We also appreciate the Chairman in Council for 2021/ 2022 Presidential year, Mrs Comfort Olu Eyitayo FCA, OON and all Council members; Ikeja and District Society especially the IPC, Mrs Taibat Malomo FCA and the Chairman, Mr Olusesan Okunade; Mr Kola Olaitan and other professional colleagues too numerous to mention.

Special appreciation to our founding members who stood by us through moral and financial support prior to the inauguration.

I have to specially thank Our Exco who stood through the period till date, thank you with hugs and kisses.
